August 29 Blog McCoy, CO The town of McCoy came to be established in the 1890's when Charles McCoy relocated his roadhouse there (it was originally located along the stage road mentioned in last weeks post). His roadhouse expanded to a 15 room hotel, with a dining room that became known for its delicious food made by his wife Rebecca. August 23 Blog Wrangler Josh Josh was born in Huntington Beach, California. He calls many places “home” including Georgia, Michigan, Colorado, and pretty much all of California. August 22 Blog The McCoy Stage Road As soon as the railroad was extended to the Wolcott area in the late 1800s, the stage route was started to carry mail, supplies, and travelers to the area. It served the little towns as far north as Steamboat Springs. Unlike our daily mail service, back then, the mail ran only three round rips per week. August 20 Blog Cattle Drive at the Dude Ranch Today is Cattle Drive day. We are a Dude Ranch (same thing as a Guest Ranch if you were wondering), which is a working ranch that accepts guests. Today we are finding the Texas Longhorns (no fences here, we really have to go for a long ride to find them) and push them down to the arena where we check for health and brand if they are old enough.
