What another great week on the ranch! As we wrap up our third adult only week, we reminisce on the fun times we’ve had on the trails, at the arena, and in the saloon. (No one can resist a good line dance!)
Before I get too far into some of this week’s most memorable moments, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Sidney and I am the new office manager, replacing Amber, who worked the past several years in this position. Working on a dude ranch has always been a dream of mine, but in the past, the cards have just never lined up of me… until now. A few weeks ago, I came across the job posting for an office manager here at Black Mountain Ranch and immediately sent in my resume. But to my dismay, the position had already been filled.
As a recent college graduate, I thought to myself, “Alright, I guess it’s time to move on and look for jobs in the ‘real world’. Maybe life on the ranch just isn’t for me.“ You can imagine the excitement I felt when Nowell emailed me last week and asked if I was still interested in the position. (Which of course I was! I cried tears of joy when I read that email.) So after talking to Nowell on the phone, I put in my two-week notice at my part-time job, moved out of my apartment, got my car serviced, and drove from Georgia to Colorado. I believe it was meant to be.
I’ve been at the ranch for less than 24 hours and I’m already in love. I can see exactly why people come back year after year to experience everything Black Mountain Ranch has to offer. It truly is a magical place.
Thursday at the ranch is often referred to as one of the most fun nights of the week. Everyone I met that day of my arrival told me that I chose the perfect first day to be here. There was roping in the arena, prime rib for dinner, and line dancing to live music in the saloon. I spent the night meeting the family, staff, guests, and locals who are lucky enough to call this place home.
Fast forward a week, and I feel like I have settled pretty nicely into my new role here. Our regular season is underway, so now the ranch is full of families from all across the country. With kids running around, there is a new, exciting energy that spreads to everyone on the ranch.
There’s no telling what the rest of the summer will bring, but I’m positive that it will be as life-changing for me as it is for every guest who experiences Black Mountain Ranch.
Best wishes,
Sidney
