Horseback Riding


From novice to expert we will match the horse, the ride, and the group to each rider's ability. The rides vary from a couple of hours to a full day's ride. Our extensive trail system extends deep into the Routt National Forest. You can choose to stay on the trails, explore cross country, or ride in the arena for practice and instruction.

Longhorn Cattle Drives

Enjoy a full day (sometimes longer...) of western tradition and adventure. Join the wranglers as we move our herd of Texas Longhorns through the Colorado high country. The drive always includes roping practice and instruction and often will includes doctoring and branding the cattle.

Overnight Pack Trips

Our fully provisioned pack camps deep in the National Forest are a highlight of each vacation. Offered several times each week, the pack trips include extensive riding and camping in style.

Fishing

For the fishing enthusiast there are two ponds close to ranch head-quarters as well as higher lakes and streams accessible by horseback. Fly fishing clinics are available, and if you're really serious, float trips on nearby rivers can be arranged. Get ready for action as our guests regularly land trophy size trout going over 5 pounds.

Another highlight is a day of white water rafting. Trips can vary from a relaxing family float trip, to a more exciting class 3 & 4 trip, or in late summer we have class 5 trips available. We schedule the raft trips daily to meet the needs of each guest through local professional rafting companies.

Our counselors provide special activities for kids of all ages including riding, hiking, fishing, crafts, and nature walks. Sorry, no television or video. Baby-sitting also available.

Other Activities

Trap shooting, dinner rides, hiking, archery, trips into Vail or Steamboat Springs for golf, shopping, and the weekly professional rodeo are available. We also finish each week with a "Gymkhana" rodeo for our guests, with lots of fun games.
